Green and White Fleece Jester Hood with Bells
Every royal court needs its fool, and not every fool is content with an ordinary hat!
This green and white jester hood takes its inspiration from the colorful entertainers of medieval courts, combining the unmistakable silhouette of a traditional fool's cap with the comfortable coverage of a soft fleece hood. The contrasting colors create a bold harlequin appearance, while two long, floppy points, each finished with a jingling bell, bring movement and personality to the design.
Unlike a conventional jester hat that sits on top of the head, this hood pulls down over the head and extends around the neck. It creates a more complete look, making it particularly appealing for Renaissance faire clothing, theatrical costumes, fantasy characters, and anyone who enjoys the dramatic possibilities of historical-inspired headwear.
A Hood Fit for a Fool
The green and white color combination gives this jester hood a lively, distinctive appearance. One side is green, the other white, creating a striking contrast that emphasizes the unusual shape.
Made from soft fleece, the hood is comfortable to wear and offers welcome warmth during chilly outdoor celebrations. The fabric allows the long points to drape naturally rather than standing stiffly upright, while the bells provide the familiar sound associated with traditional jester costumes.

The extended hood design covers more than an ordinary cap, making it a wonderful finishing touch for a character whose clothing deserves just as much personality as their performance.

From Renaissance Faires to Fantasy Adventures
This jester hood is particularly well suited to Renaissance fairs, medieval festivals, theatrical productions, historical-inspired celebrations, and fantasy conventions.
It can become part of a traditional court fool's costume, a colorful harlequin ensemble, or an original fantasy character. The contrasting green and white also makes it an interesting choice for performers who want their headwear to be immediately recognizable.
Because the hood is constructed from fleece, it offers more warmth and substance than a lightweight costume accessory, making it useful for outdoor events during cooler weather.
Whether you're entertaining the royal court, wandering a medieval marketplace, or simply indulging your appreciation for wonderfully unconventional clothing, this hood is ready for the occasion.
Handmade by MountainGoth
Each MountainGoth jester hood is individually sewn in my New Hampshire studio, where I've spent more than 15 years creating unusual hats for people who appreciate a little theatrical flair.

Traditional inspiration, modern comfort, and a cheerful jingle of bells. The royal fool would approve!

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom and personalized orders

Orders can be customized, changing a color or size or design. Orders can not personalized, do not have the proper equipment to add embroidery or vinyl. Sale prices do not apply to custom work, sales are only for existing inventory.

Sizing details

Most of my hats can be made in any size you can get me a measurement for. I do not make hats for babies or small children, these ages have special laws for the materials an other trims that can be used. I have made hats large enough to fit the mascot costumes of teams. More generally I have made hats that fit those with extra large heads.
Most of the fabrics I use are stretch fabrics so there is a little give in the sizing.
For measurement, measure around where you want the bottom of the headband to fit.

First off, send me a conversation detailing what you want customized. A change to the size, color, trim, or a different design.

I will contact you back within 24 hours.
We then have a conversation about what can be done.
I have a huge studio with over 500 bolts of fabric, plus trims and yarn, so I can generally turn around in 2-3 days since supplies are on hand.
Once we have worked out the details, I will make the item. Send you photos.
Once I get your approval, will then create a custom listing and send you a link.
Once the item is paid for will ship.
If the customization is minor, like switching a pompom for a tassel, I may just have you purchase the existing item with a note to seller.
Bring me your ideas!

How do I know my hat is a real Mountaingoth hat not a counterfeit?

Mountaingoth hats are only sold under the name of Mountaingoth, if you search the web and the seller is not Mountaingoth, it's a counterfeit.

Unfortunately there are sites that steal the photos of Mountaingoth hats from the web and set up scam websites claiming that they sell Mountaingoth hats, including stealing copies of reviews.

Can I change the trim on a hat?

Yes you can. Hats are generally trimmed at the time of shipping. So if you want to change the color of pompoms or tassels. Switch to a different style of bell. Want to leave the tips blank, just send a message. Note that some trim may have a surcharge.

I want to make a purchase of over $250 dollars.

Orders over $250 dollars are not accepted by Mountaingoth and will be canceled. The protection offered by Etsy only covers up to $250. If you wish to make a larger purchase, you will need to break it into smaller orders which are each less than $250, this is for your protection to stay within the limits of Etsy protection.

Is your name really Love?

Yes it really is my name. Married Mr. Love over 20 years ago and took his name. Funny how I'm always getting asked how to spell it.
