A long, floppy pointed hat in a warm rust and terra-cotta shade, made for anyone who likes their headwear a little outside the ordinary.
This soft fleece hat has an exaggerated tapered point that naturally bends, folds and flops as you wear it. Change the position of the hat and the point can trail down the back, sweep dramatically to one side, or settle into its own wonderfully crooked shape.
Its earthy rust color gives this hat plenty of possibilities. It can become a dwarf or gnome hat for a fantasy costume, add a little old-world character to a crone or folk-witch look, wander through a Renaissance Faire, head off to a festival, or simply be worn as an unusual cold-weather hat.
THE FIT
This is intentionally a loose-fitting hat. It does not stretch tightly around the head like a knit beanie.
Instead, it rests loosely over the head with a roomy, hood-like feel. That extra space is part of the design and gives the crown and long point their relaxed shape. Hair can fall naturally beneath it rather than being tightly compressed inside a fitted cap.
If you prefer a snug winter beanie, this isn't that kind of hat. This is for people who appreciate something softer, slouchier and decidedly less ordinary.

The soft construction means the hat won't fall exactly the same way every time you wear it. Turn it, twist it, sweep the point sideways or let it trail behind you. There really isn't a wrong way to wear it.

Custom and personalized orders
Orders can be customized, changing a color or size or design. Orders can not personalized, do not have the proper equipment to add embroidery or vinyl. Sale prices do not apply to custom work, sales are only for existing inventory.
Sizing details
Most of my hats can be made in any size you can get me a measurement for. I do not make hats for babies or small children, these ages have special laws for the materials an other trims that can be used. I have made hats large enough to fit the mascot costumes of teams. More generally I have made hats that fit those with extra large heads.
Most of the fabrics I use are stretch fabrics so there is a little give in the sizing.
For measurement, measure around where you want the bottom of the headband to fit.

What do I need to do to have a customized item?
First off, send me a conversation detailing what you want customized. A change to the size, color, trim, or a different design.
I will contact you back within 24 hours.
We then have a conversation about what can be done.
I have a huge studio with over 500 bolts of fabric, plus trims and yarn, so I can generally turn around in 2-3 days since supplies are on hand.
Once we have worked out the details, I will make the item. Send you photos.
Once I get your approval, will then create a custom listing and send you a link.
Once the item is paid for will ship.
If the customization is minor, like switching a pompom for a tassel, I may just have you purchase the existing item with a note to seller.

How do I know my hat is a real Mountaingoth hat not a counterfeit?
Mountaingoth hats are only sold under the name of Mountaingoth, if you search the web and the seller is not Mountaingoth, it's a counterfeit.
Unfortunately there are sites that steal the photos of Mountaingoth hats from the web and set up scam websites claiming that they sell Mountaingoth hats, including stealing copies of reviews.
Can I change the trim on a hat?
Yes you can. Hats are generally trimmed at the time of shipping. So if you want to change the color of pompoms or tassels. Switch to a different style of bell. Want to leave the tips blank, just send a message. Note that some trim may have a surcharge.
I want to make a purchase of over $250 dollars.
Orders over $250 dollars are not accepted by Mountaingoth and will be canceled. The protection offered by Etsy only covers up to $250. If you wish to make a larger purchase, you will need to break it into smaller orders which are each less than $250, this is for your protection to stay within the limits of Etsy protection.
Is your name really Love?
Yes it really is my name. Married Mr. Love over 20 years ago and took his name. Funny how I'm always getting asked how to spell it.
