Every wizard has to start somewhere.
This long navy blue hat has the look of something a young wizard, mage or magical apprentice might wear before earning the grand robes and elaborate brimmed hat of a master. Simple, practical and just a little eccentric, it is ready for long evenings studying spell books, carrying mysterious parcels for an impatient teacher, or discovering why the apprentice was specifically told not to touch that particular bottle. Also suitable for a dwarf or a gnome.
Made from soft fleece, the hat has a generously cut crown and an extra-long tapered point that falls naturally toward the back or side. There is no stuffing, wire or stiffener inside, allowing the long point to bend, curl and flop into different positions as it is worn.
The fit is deliberately relaxed rather than snug. Instead of stretching tightly around the head like a conventional beanie, the crown rests loosely in place and creates the soft, exaggerated silhouette shown in the photographs.
The deep navy blue gives this hat a wonderfully magical, scholarly quality. It works especially well for a wizard's apprentice, student mage, fantasy scholar or young sorcerer character. The same long pointed shape can also become a dwarf or gnome hat, making it an easy addition to Renaissance Faire garb, LARP, cosplay, theatrical costumes and other fantasy clothing.
And magical education is certainly not required. It can simply be worn as an unusual fleece hat by anyone who thinks ordinary winter caps could use a considerably longer point.

Custom and personalized orders
Orders can be customized, changing a color or size or design. Orders can not personalized, do not have the proper equipment to add embroidery or vinyl. Sale prices do not apply to custom work, sales are only for existing inventory.
Sizing details
Most of my hats can be made in any size you can get me a measurement for. I do not make hats for babies or small children, these ages have special laws for the materials an other trims that can be used. I have made hats large enough to fit the mascot costumes of teams. More generally I have made hats that fit those with extra large heads.
Most of the fabrics I use are stretch fabrics so there is a little give in the sizing.
For measurement, measure around where you want the bottom of the headband to fit.

What do I need to do to have a customized item?
First off, send me a conversation detailing what you want customized. A change to the size, color, trim, or a different design.
I will contact you back within 24 hours.
We then have a conversation about what can be done.
I have a huge studio with over 500 bolts of fabric, plus trims and yarn, so I can generally turn around in 2-3 days since supplies are on hand.
Once we have worked out the details, I will make the item. Send you photos.
Once I get your approval, will then create a custom listing and send you a link.
Once the item is paid for will ship.
If the customization is minor, like switching a pompom for a tassel, I may just have you purchase the existing item with a note to seller.

How do I know my hat is a real Mountaingoth hat not a counterfeit?
Mountaingoth hats are only sold under the name of Mountaingoth, if you search the web and the seller is not Mountaingoth, it's a counterfeit.
Unfortunately there are sites that steal the photos of Mountaingoth hats from the web and set up scam websites claiming that they sell Mountaingoth hats, including stealing copies of reviews.
Can I change the trim on a hat?
Yes you can. Hats are generally trimmed at the time of shipping. So if you want to change the color of pompoms or tassels. Switch to a different style of bell. Want to leave the tips blank, just send a message. Note that some trim may have a surcharge.
I want to make a purchase of over $250 dollars.
Orders over $250 dollars are not accepted by Mountaingoth and will be canceled. The protection offered by Etsy only covers up to $250. If you wish to make a larger purchase, you will need to break it into smaller orders which are each less than $250, this is for your protection to stay within the limits of Etsy protection.
Is your name really Love?
Yes it really is my name. Married Mr. Love over 20 years ago and took his name. Funny how I'm always getting asked how to spell it.
